Introduction to CERM

To capitalize on its research accomplishments for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), DRI established the Frank H. Rogers Center for Environmental Remediation and Monitoring (CERM) in 2003 to further its research in environmental remediation, monitoring, and public health assessment and protection for other research sponsors in Nevada, elsewhere in the U.S., and the world. A gift to DRI in honor of Frank H. Rogers, the first on-site chief operating officer of the Nevada Test Site, helped to establish the center. As a DRI interdisciplinary science center, CERM draws from expertise in all three DRI divisions—Hydrologic Sciences, Earth and Ecosystem Sciences, and Atmospheric Sciences—and from DRI researchers at both the Institute’s Northern Nevada Science Center in Reno and the Southern Nevada Science Center in Las Vegas.
